a totally unique,
totally fun,
pandemic wedding

It was a warm Monday near Charlottesville, Virginia. COVID had taken its toll on this wedding, too, like so many others. This wasn’t their plan. And yet this totally unique day felt so true to their personalities.
When their original wedding venue was closed down for the pandemic, they decided to have a drive-in wedding ceremony! A sweet elderly couple let them use a huge open hillside on their property. It gave them tons of space for guests to park cars, spread out picnic blankets, and set up beach umbrellas.
When their vendors backed out, their friends stepped up and did their part to provide amazing florals, hair styling, a delicious cake, an industrial arbor to get married under, and even individually-wrapped giant goodie bags for the reception that Mary had designed, with games, snacks, wedding cupcakes, and even a bottle of sparkling cider inside.
This beautiful day was over all too soon, and we can’t wait to get back together in the fall for a reception with the full guest list!

“I’ve waited a long time for this. I’ve done a lot of searching.”
